-Since we have been back in Lubbock we have been staying busy getting the nursery ready and trying to do activities that we won't be able to do as easily once our little man is here. We Googled the top 10 activities to do in Lubbock and are trying to do them.
-Sam has been putting a LOT of baby things together.
-This week I went to the Dr. and had an ultrasound. The Dr. said that little James already weighs 6 lbs and 13 oz!!! Yikes! From here on out they are supposed to gain an oz a day! That puts him tipping the scales around 8 and a half lbs if he goes full term!! The Dr. also said I was not progressing at all!!! 0 dilated and 0 effaced. Dang. I have another Dr.'s appt tomorrow and hopefully there has been some progression! As of 3 days ago my feet and ankles have started to swell!! Gross!
-Sam has finished his first year of med school!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are soo excited!! He worked soo hard all year and did really well! I am one proud wife! This is his only summer so we are trying to make the most of our few weeks together before the baby comes. It is soo nice that both of us aren't working! We get to spend all day together!
-Pics of the nursery to come.
-We went to the drive-in movie theater this weekend and saw a double header with some friends. We saw The Proposal and UP. I stayed up the whole time for both of them which is something I never do-well, ok until the last 30 mins. We were excited to see both of the movies but were not super impressed with either of them, especially UP. Sad. I think that I just have way too high expectations for movies.
-I have been going vinyl letter crazy! I added these animals and trees to my safari bathroom. The "Always Kiss Me Goodnight" I put above our bed.

-Goodbye truck, hello Jetta! Sam is sad that we had to get rid of his truck. He loved that truck. It was his baby! However, a car seat would not fit in it. So, when he went down to CA he switched cars with his sister. We gave her the truck and she gave us the more family friendly Jetta. We definitely got the better end of the deal! Thanks Cindy! Someday Sam will be able to by himself another truck. Oh, don't worry I still have the grocery getter. I think we will have that beauty forever.
-A free museum on campus. It had a few interesting exhibits.
-Bowling. I have head that it induces labor. We went on Sat. and are planning on going again tomorrow!
-Marble Slab ice cream. What could be better?!

Not to scare you, but the day before I went into labor I was checked at 60% effaced and not even a fingertip dialated! i went into labor and after 8 hours of consistent contractions went to get check (like they tell you to do in the birthing classes) and they checked me and I wasn't even a finger tip dialated!! so I went another 20 hours of labor, went back to the hospital and I was dilated to a 1!!! after all that! As soon as I got the epidural . . . I progressed in 4 hours and had Jackson. So progression doesn't mean anything!
I can't believe how close it is!!! You're almost parents, that's so exciting. Is there anything else that you need, or that we can do? I'm glad that you got Sam back, I was sad that I didn't get to see him at all when he was at home.
Love you guys!!
WOOHOO! Changes! I love your new decor! So cute. I also love the new car! You guys are going to welcome this child into the world in style. I heard going up and down stairs also induces labor...didn't work for me. Darn it. I had to be induced because NOTHING worked. Hopefully your little one will come just fine on his own. :)
Britt I sure hope little James doesn't go full term...that's one large baby! You are looking good...despite any swelling that may be going on! Your vinyl lettering and animals are soooo cute! Do you do them on a criket or what??? I want to do some in our place. Loves!
Okay maybe I need to go bowling. :) I'm sure Ryder wouldn't mind! And way to go on making it through the first year!!! Definitely take advantage of the summer off...it is awesome...and won't happen again for a long time!!! I'm so excited to see what baby James looks like!!!
oh. and p.s. swollen ankles are NO fun!!!! I wish we could hang out and have cankles together. :)
I love the vinyl things you did - so cute! Hang in there this last little stretch...believe me, I know how miserable it can be! And everyone is different, but I went in on a Tuesday and was not dilated at ALL and zero percent effaced and 3 days later my baby was born. So don't get too discouraged by no progression. Good luck!
I love the vinyl thingies- and the jungle nursery! I'm waiting by the phone for your call that James is here. Can't wait!!
