Dear Editor:
I was disappointed by your excerpt titled, “Her Mormon Makeover” in your Sept. 10, 2010 issue on page 119. You stated that Chyler Leigh “plays a Mormon polygamist.” The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, also known as Mormons, prohibits polygamy. Furthermore, it teaches that marriage should be between one man and one woman. Therefore, stating in your magazine that a character is Mormon and practicing polygamy is incorrect. Anyone practicing polygamy is not Mormon, but some other religion. I would appreciate it if you get your facts straight before publishing false statements about anyone’s religion. I hope to see your error corrected in your corrections section of your next issue.
Thank you,
Brittney Strebel

Way to go, Britt! See there is some value in reading those magazines!
You tell 'em, Brittney! :) Seriously, though, I'm proud of you for doing that. They need to get their facts straight. You'll have to let us know if they print a correction.
I just saw the same thing on the description of a lifetime movie called "the nineteenth wife"
I kind of thought that mormons were mainstream enough to eliminate such stupid errors. Or at least a smart editor. Guess not!
Can't wait to hear if you get a response!
Way to go Britt! I am excited to see if they respond to it :)
I'm impressed Brittney! I can't wait to see what happens. Please post the response...if they decide to.
